The chairperson shall be appointed by the elders. The chairperson shall recommend persons for Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Assistant Financial Secretary and members at large for the Finance Committee. The chairperson shall provide a financial report at elder and/or congregational meetings. Appointments to the Finance Committee shall be approved by the elders.
The Finance Committee shall assemble a budget utilizing recommendations from ministry chairpersons. They shall monitor giving as it relates to budget and make recommendations, as they deem necessary. They shall make recommendations to the elders to establish policies or procedures that would encourage fiscal responsibility. Specific responsibilities are carried out by those appointed to the following positions:
FINANCIAL SECRETARY - The Financial Secretary shall receive and deposit all funds and send deposit statements to the elder chairman and treasurer and send a record of individual giving to the assistant financial secretary. All offerings shall be counted by the financial secretary or designee and one additional church member approved by the elders.
ASSISTANT FINANCIAL SECRETARY - The assistant financial secretary shall record all individual giving and provide each contributor who uses the church approved collection system with an annual statement.
TREASURER - The treasurer shall receive all deposit statements from the financial secretary. The treasurer shall make all disbursements and pay all bills. The treasurer shall keep an accurate account of all monies received and expended and render a monthly itemized report to the elders, and at such other times as may be requested by the elders.
